I just want to add that it all worked perfectly fine with XFree86 (at least the versions that came with RH9 and Fedora Core 1). I did some searching and found that theres is another bug reported regarding a similar problem. I'm wondering why it used to work, and what happened to break it (between xfree86 and x.org) I don't think it was broken between X.Org and XFree86. It was probably broken between XFree86 4.3 and 4.4RC. Same bug on gericom Laptop ( S3 savage) it was all the same for me : DPMS worked fine with latest Debian SID xfree, and switching off the screen stopped working when I switched to xorg. No patch to offer. Savage dpms for lcds should work fine with xorg cvs (previous versions of xorg had no code to handle this). Same problems for me on a Dell Inspiron 8200 with NVIDIA GeForce Go 2 chipset, i.e. the backlight does not turn off. I am using the latest xorg release from Fedora Core 2 (xorg-x11-6.7.0-9) which is the only release I've used on this laptop (only just installed FC2 on it). The output from lspci follow, 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV11 [GeForce2 Go] (rev b2) (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Subsystem: Dell Computer Corporation: Unknown device 00d4 Flags: bus master, VGA palette snoop, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 11 Memory at fc000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) Memory at e0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M] Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 2 Capabilities: [44] AGP version 2.0 Any idea when we might see a fix for this please? Thanks, Alec (In reply to comment #4) > Savage dpms for lcds should work fine with xorg cvs (previous versions of xorg > had no code to handle this). You can close the bug. It really works fine with CVS version ( on my Gericom box ). |
