Thank you for reporting this issue! I have been able to confirm the issue on:
Version 3.5.beta0
Platform: Bodhi Linux 2.2 x64

As I've been able to confirm this problem on an earlier release I am changing the version number as version is the earliest version that we can confirm the bug, we use comments to say that the bug exists in newer versions as well.

Marking as:

New (confirmed)
Major - technically a loss of data but easy to fix
Low - this has been around probably since the fork from OOo and no one else seems to have noticed. Plus easy workaround

Steps:
1. Insert a text frame
2. Insert any animation
3. Right click on animation (bottom third of task pane)
4. Left click Effects Options
5. Left click Text Options
6. Group text "as one object"

Push ok

The bug is still present in Version: 4.2.0.4
Build ID: 05dceb5d363845f2cf968344d7adab8dcfb2ba71

In a side-comment, and as requested by others, I think the the "As one object" should be the default.

In order to limit the confusion between ProposedEasyHack and EasyHack and to make queries much easier we are changing ProposedEasyHack to NeedsDevEval.

Thank you and apologies for the noise
