xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.14.2-9.fc19.i686
kernel-PAE-3.10.7-200.fc19.i686

For about two or three weeks now my Lenovo Thinkpad T61 with Fedora 19 suddenly locks (mouse does not move; no switching to console possible; music loops) and decides to reboot after a few seconds. This is unfortunate.

The culprit seems to be doing an interaction with Firefox (closing a tab, switching to another application) triggering an issue lower in the stack.

Attached X.org.log has a backtrace at the very end:

That usually means that the GPU has hung. The -12's are probably some print in the driver reporting errors. The segfault in X appears to not be (directly) nouveau-related, but it's also the least of your issues. If it didn't segfault, it would have gotten killed anyways.

I think seeing a kernel log would be instructional. Can you reproduce this at will? If it started happening recently, was there some sort of upgrade that took place?

> Can you reproduce this at will?

There are no clear steps to reproduce, but it happens often enough (at least every second day, sometimes several times a day).

> If it started happening recently, was there some sort of upgrade that took place?

I made a fresh install of Fedora 19 on this machine a month ago. I *think* the problem did not happen in the first one or two weeks, but that's not enough time to come up with any theories. :)

> I think seeing a kernel log would be instructional.

I had three reboots yesterday evening within 30 minutes (around 22:09:00, 22:18:00, 22:30:00). The attached "journalctl -f _TRANSPORT=kernel" output includes two full reboot cycles.
I'll also attach "journalctl --since=yesterday -f _TRANSPORT=kernel -p err" to ease finding critical stuff.

If journalctl is not the way to go, please link to instructions. I was looking at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_debug_Xorg_problems for my initial comment.

Is there any other information I could provide? Still happens about twice a day with latest Fedora 19 kernel (kernel-PAE-3.10.10-200.fc19.i686).

cat /proc/kmsg

SSH'ed onto the sick machine which is still crashing twice a day.
Attached output is "just" from some artifacts like letters and thumbnails in gnome-shell replaced by different shades of blue.

And /var/log/messages happily fills up with lots of register output such as

Comment 8 Pierre Moreau 2015-02-19 10:01:00 UTC
This bug likely evolved into bug #89186 - same card but newer kernel version. Let's solve the new one first as it occurs earlier, and check afterwards if this one is still a problem or not.
Comment 9 Ilia Mirkin 2015-10-22 04:04:13 UTC
Does this still happen with semi-recent kernel/mesa?
Comment 10 Andre Klapper 2015-10-22 10:49:01 UTC
Yes. (Running Fedora 23 now.)
Comment 11 Andre Klapper 2015-11-27 12:58:10 UTC
Wondering how related is https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=924385 which I also still face in Fedora 23.
Comment 12 Andre Klapper 2018-07-25 10:21:41 UTC
Obsolete, machine not in use anymore
