This would allow for neat tricks like resizing an Xnest window.

I don't think we really care about Xnest. Try Xephyr - great taste, less

Yeah, I don't think this is gonna get fixed.  Xnest (and Xephyr) are on the way 
out.  xf86-video-nested is the new hotness.  If you have issues with that, 
please open a new bug against it.  if your *REALLY* care about Xnest, patches 
welcome.
