LibreOffice Writer > Edit > Compare Document...

The Document Compare function in Writer does not compare footnotes, endnotes, fields, headers, footers, frames, etc.

Yet, in many classes of document, it is precisely these elements which contain critical information.

The ability to detect any changes in these crucial text elements between successive edits of a document is simply essential.

This is not a bug as this behavior is specified in the help of the compare function.

Set as enhancement.

I see the warning that the comparison function in Writer does not affect footnotes, endnotes, etc., on the Wiki, but not in the help function of Libreoffice itself.

Regardless, does making note of a bug in a help file make it not a bug? I suppose that could be the desired behavior, though that seems a bit odd, considering it this bug makes comparing all but the simplest of files impossible.

Saying that it is not a bug does not mean it not the desired behavior. It works as designed, then it is not a bug. But it should work better, then it is an enhancement request.

Best regards. JBF
