Description fredrik 2013-12-02 21:03:51 UTC
Hardware: Cape Verde PRO [Radeon HD 7750]
Software: Linux, mesa, ddx, glamor from git

I am experiencing horizontal tearing on the top ~5% of my screen with fullscreen vdpau/xv playback. The tearing occurs on a very specific are of the screen only.

My old HD5570 (without glamor) is tear-free.

There is no tearing avoidance yet for XVideo with glamor.

At this time, the only hope of avoiding tearing with radeonsi is to use vdpau or OpenGL output in fullscreen using page flipping. To achieve page flipping, make sure the video window dimensions match the X11 screen dimensions, and if you're using a compositing manager, make sure it unredirects fullscreen windows.

I guess Option "TearFree" "on" should fix this as well. I wonder why it is disabled by default.
