Workaround exists. You can remove 4.1 and the install 4.2, feature state is only preserved when you do an update. (In reply to comment #1) > Workaround exists. I understand that "select modules" feature was not needed anymore (but apparently it was not just "removing icons" after all) however it would be a desired approach not to break down something and then tell people to rollback to a previous version and fiddle with yet another installation. Thanks for the tip anyway. I'll use it one day when I can afford a couple of hours to uninstall, reinstall and, as it usually happens, lose all custom settings in the process. EOT agnit, I can't be certain, but perhaps you should be able to keep your user profile so long as you don't uninstall with some special uninstaller like Revo. In any case, Andras, people who meet with this problem would likely have installed a new version. So, the workaround for them is as decribed by manj_k (at http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/29314/i-originally-installed-libreoffice-4x-without-impress-i-want-to-install-it-with-420/): uninstall v4.2.0, then install v4.1.x (custom setup) with all modules, then install v4.2.0. Considering all the trouble people in the future have to go through if they want to change the choice of modules, please consider reinstating the option to choose modules. Btw, not sure if this is relavant: From L-user at http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/30484/removing-components-in-libreoffice-42/ I am little bit sceptical that only shortcuts where removed - why would that produce "source of bugs"? For example on my computer running LibreOffice 4.1.5 I didn't install Base and in Writer when I click Tools | Bibliography Database then Writer crashes with C++ Run time error, because some component from Base is missing. So I just can't believe that "just" Start menu shortcuts were removed. |
