After update to mesa-10.1 my desktop is terribly unstable, GPU hangs happens at random time (at least I can't find a pattern). Mesa-10.0.3 works just fine.

Also look at comment 17 in bug #76699 .... this bug might be related

Hi Vasily,

try updating to mesa git master or mesa 10.1.1 when it will be out. It looks like an issue in mesa with some GLX code. More details available in comment 21 of bug #76699

I compiled mesa git master as of today and the issue looks fixed for me.

Hi Enrico,

Thanks, I'll try patches from mentioned bug report.
Comment 6 Vasily Khoruzhick 2014-04-09 13:03:49 UTC
Enrico, patches from https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74316#c8 are already included in 10.1.0

You are right indeed, I didn't paid enough attention. Nonetheless mesa 10.2-devel fixed the issue for me. There must be something else in between. Weird.

The thing is that I don't want to mess with devel versions (and I guess neither do other users of different distros), but I can test any specific patch/commit in case it's pointed to me :)

Hi Vasily,

What desktop environment are you using? KDE?

Hi Kenneth

Yep, I'm using KDE

Cool, this sounds like the same bug everyone else is hitting too. You might try one of the workarounds I mentioned in bug #77207 - either run KWin with EGL or upgrade your X server (though, the fixed versions aren't quite out yet).
