This seems like two requests no? One is to connect to an online dictionary, the second is to allow some kind of "user" within the software? The 2nd I think would be very hard to actually manage (and would come with some privacy questions I'm sure) while the first may be more manageable. Please expand on if this is correct The first one is part of the other as the second also ties in some respects to the second. It would be useful for the second as it allows for one to take ones profile with them when they work away from the main computer and work on say a Work computer one can take settings with them. The first issue would allow the language dictionaries and thesaurus to be combined with open source online dictionaries, in order to provide a bigger range of word options and language skills like medical dictionaries, engineering, physics etc. It could also work well with Libre Office working with universities and such to help create online specialized dictionaries and help spread Libre office through academic and industry bodies. 2nd) LibreOffice Sync, one would suggest would be a synchronization feature that allows users to partially synchronize settings, Toolbar layouts, preferences, regional settings and language, passwords, filled forms, add-ons and the last 25 opened files across multiple computers, online storage, etc. LibreOffice Sync would keep user data on Libre servers, but with the data encrypted in such a way that no third party, not even Libra, can access user information. It would also be useful for the user to host their own LibreOffice Sync servers, or System file, or indeed, for any entity to do so. (In reply to Matt from comment #2) > The first issue would allow the language dictionaries and thesaurus to be > combined with open source online dictionaries, in order to provide a bigger > range of word options and language skills like medical dictionaries, > engineering, physics etc. It could also work well with Libre Office working > with universities and such to help create online specialized dictionaries > and help spread Libre office through academic and industry bodies. So basically have something in the software that can query external resources for data and use it in the program? I'm thinking some kind of hybrid of Spell-Check + Firefox Personas http://artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~kendy/blog/archives/permalinks/2013-01-10T17_58_34.html > 2nd) LibreOffice Sync, one would suggest would be a synchronization feature Sure. Basically implementing something like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox_Sync (Hmm..I'm sensing a trend here :-) Matt: Please split this up into two separate enhancement requests so we can evaluate each separately. Status -> NEEDINFO (Then you can change the bug status here back to UNCONFIRMED) |
