In SUSE 10.0/Gnome 2.12.0, SVG files themselves are not previewed properly. For example, when we look at the tests/icons directory, the red-SVG.svg file shows up in the file browser as a big black box, rather than the text "SVG" that is seen when the document is opened in Inkscape. xdg-utils-usecases/t.12-svg_icon_render is (about to be) checked in to address this case. *** Bug 8033 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I have updated the SVG file to be less inkscape specific and now it shows up more often but many older versions of both gnome and kde still lack proper SVG support.
