Since my first attempts to setup DRI acceleration for voodoo 3/Banshee cards
with Xorg 6.9/7, I have been unable to run a single 3D game.

Those that use SDL (v1.2) end up with the message "SDL parachute deployed,
exiting on signal ..."
To clear out if it is exclusively linked to Mesa/DRI -- SDL interaction, I
compiled  glquake under Ubuntu Dapper and it also crashed on start with an
"exiting  on signal 11" message.
The same problem hapens with Slackware 10.2/Xorg 6.9 compiled from sources or
FC3/Xorg 6.9 compiled from sources. I have also tried with Mesa 6.4.x drivers
newer than those provided with Xorg 6.9.
