Description Maeve 2014-06-24 17:08:16 UTC
This is what I experience with Libre 3.
I'd like to try Libre 4, & downloaded it. But can't get it to do anything. It just sits in folder. Nothing I click can seem to make it wake up and do anything. If I click "open" it just shows me the technical folders that are inside. It doesn't actually start running the program. And I can't find anything that will make it.

I really like Libre Writer but it has many shortcomings.

The worst is its way of organizing everything as "sections".

This seems to inspire it to insert page breaks automatically, every time you have a new paragraph with different indentation, or italics, or without italics, etc. Basically everywhere any formatting changes.

But these stealth page breaks don't show up in "Page Preview" either.

If you have document of a few to a hundred pages, you may be unpleasantly surprised to find it, after it prints, that there is just one paragraph on each page, because it has mistaken every paragraph end for a page break.

What is your OS?
Please attach a sample document showing this behavior.

Urmas:

don't you think that it's best for Maeve to first ask for user-support. For example there is a group of users with a great variety of skills that can offer help with questions:
  http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/community-support/

Maeve, can you pls try that?

If after that you are sure that there is no problem with how you should use the functions, and that there is a bug or a need for a serious enhancement, pls reopen this issue and give a sample editable document with a clear step by step description.

So for now I close as WORKSFORME. Might there turn out to be a problem in some specific details, then pls reopen with those details.

Kind regards
Cor
