Description Matthew Francis 2014-08-20 07:41:14 UTC
Spotted on Linux while investigating other bugs; specifically, on Ubuntu 14.04 with the following build from master:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@46-TDF/2014-08-18_05.51.03/master~2014-08-18_05.51.03_LibreOfficeDev_4.4.0.0.alpha0_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz

See the attached screenshots and document. Under LO 4.2.4.2, Japanese text is correctly shown in the "Base text" and "Ruby text" input fields of the "Asian Phonetic Guide" dialog, while under master only "missing character" boxes are shown.

Japanese text is correctly shown in the bottom half of the dialog and in the main document, so it's not a matter of missing fonts.

Note when reproducing: To see the "Asian Phonetic Guide" dialog as shown in the screenshots, select some Japanese text in the provided test document, and open "Format - Asian phonetic guide...". However, this may only be shown if the global setting

"Default Languages for Documents - Asian" is ticked within

"Options - Language Settings - Languages"

Not sure if any relation to Bug 81926
Comment 5 Matthew Francis 2014-08-20 14:45:36 UTC
Doesn't occur on Fedora 20 with the RPM version of the same build, so something specific to Ubuntu?
Comment 6 Matthew Francis 2014-08-21 12:32:35 UTC
I can't even reproduce this myself now, although nothing significant has changed on my test system, apart from the installation and removal of various versions of LO for testing.

I didn't update any system packages in that time, so the issue, if any still exists, may be specific to font configuration that is triggered when the LO packages are installed.

Will reopen if I see it occurring again
