Are you using a compositor? Are you using kwin? In order for prime to work, you must use a compositor. There are also reports of kwin occasionally ending up with black windows, which you can fix by minimizing and restoring the window. (Although that's not the issue in the screenshot.) Yes, I’m running cinnamon, and I installed xcompmgr (and it’s running when I’m trying the glxspheres64 executable).
