here is how to reproduce this:
1. have getty or systemd-consoled running on, say, tty1. i'm calling this your console.
2. have X running on, say, tty12
3. swtich from your console to X and back to console.
4. trying to swtich from console to X no freezes the dispaly.

i have tested this on intel video card. let me know if you need more specs.

xrog-server-1.15.2-r2
xf86-video-intel-2.21.15 (2.99.917 is current)

Looks like the logind connection disappeared when X was switched away.
