Arch Linux 4.0.1

No sound from headphone port, located on front of machine.

Plug / unplug of headphones from port is recognized.

Line out works OK. Internal speaker works OK.

Headphone works when machine is booted to OS X or Windows 7.

Are you able to get audio from the headphones with "speaker-test --device=front:Intel --channels=2" and playing with "alsamixer --card=Intel"?

If plain alsa is not capable of producing audio to the headphones, then that's an alsa bug. If you find some combination of settings with alsamixer that results in audio to the headphones, then depending on those settings this may turn out to be either an alsa bug or a pulseaudio bug.
