How do you run Wayland? Are you testing with weston? Or do you use GNOME's Wayand session? In what clients does the issue happen? More information about your issue is needed to get an idea of what and where the problem might be. (In reply to Jonas Ådahl from comment #1) > How do you run Wayland? Are you testing with weston? I use gnome's wayland session. it happened in gdm and gnome desktop. I'm sorry, i'm not a proffesional linux user. If you need more information just tell mi the command. I will send you information. Closing this bug then, since it is not a bug in Wayland but somewhere else. Could you go to http://bugs.gnome.org and file a new bug? You could start by filing it against the gtk+ product on the "Backend: Wayland" component, as it might be there. If it is not, we'll just move it. When doing so, please describe more in detail how to reproduce, such as the keyboard layout you use, or whether some input method is used etc. *** Bug 91176 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** When I start a Weston session or a GNOME session using Wayland, I can't type these letters, too (ı, I, i, İ). It's your bug. Please. Weston has this bug, too. GDM uses Wayland (not Xorg) so with my Turkish keyboard, I can't type any password includes iİıI. In Weston or GNOME with Wayland, I can't type these letters, too. pl0x Why nobody cares? (In reply to Arda Ünlü from comment #8) > Why nobody cares? No one have said nobody cares. The case is simply that no one (that I know of) have had the time to look into the issue yet. It is an important issue of course, but there is no need for this type of reminders; it has not been forgotten. What's so special about the turkish keyboard? Are you using some input method services that make it work on X11? Have you configured the keymap in weston.ini when you run Weston? See KEYBOARD section in weston.ini man page. If the problem in Weston can be solved by editing weston.ini, then the issue in GNOME is likely similar: keyboard configuration. However, if you actually need an input method to type those characters, well... that probably needs more work all over. Well weston.ini did the thing. Not a bug, guess?.. I guess* (In reply to Arda Ünlü from comment #11) > Well weston.ini did the thing. Not a bug, guess?.. Indeed. Weston only gets the keymap from weston.ini. I suppose GNOME could have a similar issue, where where-ever you configured the keyboard is not being used by the display server in Wayland mode. That would be a bug for the distribution or GNOME. Same problem here. (In reply to Pekka Paalanen from comment #10) > What's so special about the turkish keyboard? Are you using some input > method services that make it work on X11? We use some kind of special keyboard because in our language we have some special letters like ğ,ü,ş,ı,İ,ö,ç . And i'm really upset because we don't have a turkish fedora community. That because no one knowes any bugs about turkish users. Know i'm normally using debian , fedora and i really want to solve this problem. I'm still waiting for you guys. Thank you for attention. (In reply to İbrahim Yağız Bayazit from comment #15) > We use some kind of special keyboard because in our language we have some > special letters like ğ,ü,ş,ı,İ,ö,ç . Right, but exactly how do you type those characters when they work? Do they come from simply pressing a key, possibly with some modifiers? Or do you need to use compose keys? Or do you use an input method (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Input_method )? > I'm still waiting for you guys. What are you waiting us to do? Arda said configuring the keyboard layout correctly solved the issue for him, why does that not work for you? If it is related to GNOME keyboard settings, you should ask in a place that is related to GNOME, even if it happens only with GNOME/Wayland and not GNOME/X11. Keyboard setup is specific to the DE, not Wayland. However, if the question is really about compose or input methods, then I suppose there is more to discuss. i, İ, ı and I are all typed without the aid of deadkeys. There is a dead_abovedot which can be used. ü, ö, ş, ç, and ğ also don't need deadkeys. So: - we should have the sample clients support deadkeys/composition I suppose, but that is a separate enhancement bug - Weston is fine, as it supports the full range of input it can once correctly configured - if GNOME has an issue, please file it at https://bugzilla.gnome.org - nothing more for us to do on this bug Thankyou! Thank you for attention and help. I just disable wayland for gdm now and everything is ok for me. https://www.maketecheasier.com/fix-wayland-gdm-issue-fedora/ |
