Usually to get this functionality I'm using following article to set up scrolling when middle button on trackpoint pressed and trackpoint moved. http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_configure_the_TrackPoint#xorg.conf.d

But would be great if we will have support this "from box" or having easy option to enable this feature.

the feature is already there, doesn't it work on your laptop? What's the output of udevadm info /sys/class/input/eventX, where eventX is the device node for your trackpoint.
