Description Corey Burger 2006-12-15 23:07:33 UTC
Gnomes 'always on top' option is disabled, and in programs like xmms which have
an 'always on top' option it is ignored.

Reported at https://bugs.launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/33784

I've verified that the _NET_WM_STATE_ABOVE hint that compiz supports works
properly. With "gnome always-on-top option" I assume that you mean libwnck's
action menu that is used by the panel taskbar and gtk-window-decorator. This is
an issue in libwnck and not in compiz, if I remember correctly libwnck assumes
that _NET_WM_STATE_ABOVE isn't supported when _NET_WM_ALLOWED_ACTIONS hint exists.

I don't know about xmms. I guess that either it uses libwnck, is doing the same
mistake as libwnck or isn't using the _NET_WM_STATE_ABOVE hint but some other
hint that compiz doesn't support.

Ah, ok. Should I file a bug in bugzilla.g.o then?

Yes, please do so.
Comment 4 Emilio Pozuelo Monfort 2007-02-08 17:11:57 UTC
Could you please post here the Gnome bug, if you've reported it?
Comment 5 Daniel Stone 2007-02-27 01:35:08 UTC
Sorry about the phenomenal bug spam, guys. Adding xorg-team@ to the QA contact so bugs don't get lost in future.

Should be fixed. If not, re-open on bugs.opencompositing.org
