Xpoll.h is a big mess of preprocessor #if etc. If we use configure to check for
/usr/include/sys/select.h then we can eventually clean it up a bit. The patch
also allows for detection of fd_set.fds_bits on more platforms.

Oops, forgot about the Xalloca.h bits, feel free to keep or discard them, they
worked for me..
