syslog during failure

Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon 64bit
Since the last distribution upgrade (Mint 17 -> 18, MM 1.0.0 -> 1.4.12), I cannot use my phone as USB modem any longer.

The events unfold as such:
- connect phone (LG G2 in this case) with USB cable
- on the phone, turn on USB modem feature
- on the Linux computer, the NM icon shows the connected wire icon. At this stage, the Internet connection is fully functional on the computer
- after a few seconds, the icon is the greyed out disconnected cable again, and the link is down.

Attached is the log from the moment the phone is plugged in to the moment the link comes down.

I see some ModemManager logs in syslog, but they're related to the TTYs the device exposes. I believe this device may be auto-connected directly via the network interface exposed, and therefore ModemManager isn't needed for anything, and actually, the issue may not be related to ModemManager at all.

Try to apt-get remove modemmanager and see if you can get any further anyway.

Removing ModemManager solves the problem, so thanks for that :)

Still, doesn't it at least mean that MM interferes with NetworkManager and the way it handles USB phones/modems? I shouldn't need it anytime soon, so I wouldn't be able to test it, but I expect there would be situations where one could need both and therefore run into this problem.

There's nothing we can do in MM here, closing.
