I'm wondering if some of the content from Vendor.conf would be better suited to /etc/os-release on systems that have it.

The values are fairly specific to the distribution, and having a separate location with these values would make it easier to migrate to new URLs without reissuing PackageKit itself.

VendorName is perhaps the most obvious candidate, but the support urls might be interesting.

I don't think we actually use VendorName now, I think it's just the missing package URLs that are used in frontends. If the same data was available in os-release I'd switch to that in a heartbeat.
