Description Robert Sharp 2012-01-10 03:00:28 UTC
I use the navigator all of the time for Writer, but hardly ever for calc and impress. It would be much easier if the setting for each app was independent.

And also Stylist, Galery.

Idea sounds good to me, as e.g. in Impress, the Styles and Formatting windows is almost completely redundant due to the masterpages concept.
Also, please make the position of such windows component-dependant, as in Calc users might prefer floating windows over docked windows, as docked windows are harder to close and thus shrink the usable screen real estate permanently – this specifically impacts Calc because of its ~infinitely wide and long sheets.

(Obviously, please don't add settings for this to the UI, but set this implicitly as the user opens and closes applications.)

It is a good idea for me. The only difference I suggest is :
It would be much easier if the behavior (close/opened) of Navigator and Stylist for each app was independent.

As written by Astron, no need for UI settings, each application should restore the states of the Navigator and the Stylist as they were in the previous utilization of the same application.

This would be the most productive solution. It also is very individual.
