Description Gwendoline.spurll@mcgill.ca 2014-01-26 17:17:45 UTC
I have Parkinson's, and right now am working with a broken right wrist after a Hefall. I was trying to use Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking for Mac with Open office but it crashes repeatedly and is impossible to use. I have been using OpenOffice for other applications for an couple of years and have not had any trouble up until I started trying to use dictation software. The dictation software works with other Mac applications including a built-in text processor however I'm trying to prepare prep at presentation on the current world Congress of Parkinson's disease and need presentation software for that. The problem persists in both the presentation module and the normal text processing module.

Just to be sure there's no confusion. LibreOffice is a fork from OpenOffice (which has become Apache OpenOffice now). So if you're talking about LibreOffice, you're at the right place :-)

What LibreOffice version do you use? (the last stable one is 4.1.4 and can be found here: http://www.libreoffice.org/download)

Would it be possible you retrieve the error message by following this link?

I am running libreoffice (working in Quebec as an Anglophone working in both French and Engish), using either English Canadian or multinational keyboard. I have also tried to use Openoffice, and that also crashes.

I am running Libraoffice 3.4.4 build 000340m1b422.

I will try to retrieve the error message and send it.

I have tried to install the new version and failed, will get local help and let you know what happens.

Gwendoline, could you please update your very old LO (3.4.4) to the latest and see if the problem persists with 4.2.0.3: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

We have installed the latest libreoffice version as instructed . I then cut and pasted some text from one of the files I have been trying to work on into libreoffice. It immediately crashed. I will attach the debug file.

Thank you Gwendoline for your feedback.

Considering the stacktrace, it looks like a dup of fdo#54923 put in See Also.
However this tracker could be solved from 4.1.2 according to this:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54923#c46

For the test, could you rename your LibreOffice directory Profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Mac_OS_X) and give it a new try?
The goal of this test is to detect problems which could be due to some customizations/extensions not compatible anymore with last LibreOffice version.

If you still reproduce the problem, could you indicate if you use LazyMouse? If yes, could you disable for the test and give it a try?

Dear Julien,

I installed the up to date software, and got my son to rename the user profile. I then used the new software to edit files I had made with manual entry of text and all was well. Then I relabelled a copy of that text "test" and started editing using dictation and it crashed repeatedly, as before. I attach the report. Thank you. I

Thank you again Gwendoline for your new feedback.
Same stacktrace badfully.
I put it at New since we've got a stacktrace.

Thorsten/Michael: any idea how to dig on this tracker or who may help here?
