old tamil typewriter layout

Request to add Tamil letter ஸ்ரீ
(pronounced as SRI) in the Tamil Unicode
keyboard layout. This single letter is
widely used as respect before writing
any Hindu elders name. It also mean
Goddess Mahalakshmi. It is mentioned in
the old tamil typewriter layout after 0.
Please add the letter ஸ்ரீ in the same
place.
Enclose herewith the image of old
unicode Tamil typewriter with word ஸ்ரீ
after 0. Please do not make anyother
change seeing the layout because it is
old typewriter layout, add only the
letter Sri.

Would you be able to patch the file symbols/in ? There is a section "tam_unicode"
Comment 2 Oppili 2014-02-26 05:05:11 UTC
Not a computer guy. Please add this symbol "ஸ்ரீ" next to 0. Please forward to developer from Tamilnadu, India.
Comment 3 Peter Hutterer 2014-11-11 23:20:56 UTC
symbol is TAMIL SYLLABLE SHRII, sequence: 0BB6 0BCD 0BB0 0BC0 added in Unicode 5.1. Problem is it's a sequence: how do we map that?

Comment 4 Peter Hutterer 2014-11-13 00:13:16 UTC
This is not something we can fix in xkeyboard-config, xkb doesn't support sequences, it only allows one keycode → one keysym.

To support ஸ்ரீ it needs to be provided by the input method, i.e. ibus or similar.

we don't have a CANTFIX in bugzilla so I'm using WONTFIX.
