Description icerabbit 2014-06-23 11:56:51 UTC
( Trying to file this as an enhancement request. )

Problem description:

I cannot find a dialog box or screen that allows me to add a custom number of rows in one step.

Current behavior: With right click or through the menu, I have to either add one row at a time or highlight the desired number of rows exactly and then do add row.

This is not a problem if you only need a handful of rows, but becomes tedious when you start to need 7, 12, 31 ... (to add weekdays, months, workdays)

Expected behavior / enhancement:

ADD ROWS... dialog (additional option, so there'd be old "ADD ROW" and new "ADD ROWS ...")
Enter number of rows to be added.
Select add above or add below.
OK.

All done in 1 simple step.

Steps to reproduce:
1. ....
2. ....
3. ....

Current behavior:

Expected behavior:

Operating System: Mac OS X
Version: 4.2.1.1 release

Valid request, might be easy to accomplish:

New (confirmed)
Enhancement
Medium - seems pretty useful for a # of our users who add rows to a spreadsheet (basic task)

Several rows can already be added at once in the spreadsheet if you first select several rows you want to insert (more precisely, select as many rows you want to insert).

For instance, select 5 rows, then click right and choose "Insert Rows Above". 5 rows are then inserted above the first one you selected (and the inserted rows become the ones selected).

That's the way it works for years in spreadsheet applications (including Microsoft Excel), and it allows inserting hundreds or thousands of rows at once if you want to. Doesn't this perfectly fit the requirement?
