Problem description: When I try saving a file, no file is written to disk, but the program just freezes. This happens in Writer and Calc. I have not tried the other included programs, but would imagine that it happens as well. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Writer 2. Typing anything into the document 3. Open the save dialog 4. Choose any name and Save 5. Program freezes Current behavior: When I try saving a file, no file is written to disk, but the program just freezes. This happens in Writer and Calc. I have not tried the other included programs, but would imagine that it happens as well. Saving works fine if I open an existing document and "Save" it. LibreOffice freezes when I use "Save As" and save under the same filename or a completely different filename. I can "save as" if I save over a different existing Open Document file. Expected behavior: A file is saved after I choose a filename without LibreOffice window freezing I have tried to get a strace with Windbg by following the steps on https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/How_to_get_a_backtrace_with_WinDbg After I had attached the debugger to soffice.bin and saved a document as a new file, LibreOffice did not freeze and saved the document just fine. Operating System: Windows 7 Version: 4.3.1.2 release
I haven't seen anyone else with similar problems with 4.3.1.2. Can you try with a fresh profile: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile
(In reply to comment #1) > I haven't seen anyone else with similar problems with 4.3.1.2. Can you try > with a fresh profile: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile I did not had much hope that your suggestion would work, since the problem has happened for so long and even with the regular version. (I am using portable now.) Moving my user profile out of the way and letting LO create a new one fixed the issue though. I can save documents to new files and export to PDF without the program freezing now. I will try and see what happens if I use the previous user profile on another machine. Is there some easy way to prune private information from the profile so that I could share the files?
There is no easy way to remove private data - you can manually dig through the folder and prune whatever you want out of it. Marking this as WFM - if you can provide the profile then set the bug back to UNCONFIRMED and we'll try to confirm with your profile. I'm glad that you can at least use the software now ;)
