Description Tzafrir Cohen 2018-05-25 14:54:39 UTC
The attached patch adds a new variant for the Israeli keyboard layout: si1452-2.

Part 2 of the SI1452 (2018) is a variant of the above. It attempts to avoid keys that are located differently in the Hebrew and English (us) layouts.

This is done by moving Taw and Finalzade and several punctuation marks. Finalnun was also moved to avoid confusion with its similar neighbor Waw.

The new standard was published by the Standards Institute of Israel on 29-Mar-2018. As with the previous revision of the standard, Shai Berger (CCed) was one of the standard committee's members.

This note is to confirm that:

(1) I am still a member of the relevant committee at the Israeli Institute of Standards;

(2) Tzafrir's patch is, indeed, an implementation of the new standard variation as defined by the committee and published by the Institute.

In other words, +1.

For reference, the previous (still valid) version of the standard was handled here as Bug 70887.

Thanks,
Shai.

Thank you Tzafrir! Could you please add the patch to base.xml.in (or, if the variant is exotic, base.extras.xml.in)? Thank you!
