The 2D engine in this GPU lacks the video formats necessary to support the XV extension. You'll need to use the nvidia driver or mplayer's x11 output plugin. Sorry for posting to already closed bug report. I've the same problem with nv-2.1.2 and 8600GT chipset. According to README.G80, XVideo extension isn't supported. Is it related to G80 only, or XVideo is not supported (and will not be supported due to chipset limitation) on all 8xxx chipsets? Yuri, It's a limitation in all GeForce 8 series GPUs. Sorry. I am just curious No, the nvidia driver uses the 3D engine. |
