I switch to x.org 6.8.1(from slackware current). Things look better, i don't have to extend horizsync and vrefresh in order to have all the resolutions in my xrandr list, but the big problem is always here, when i set a resolution lower than 1280x1024, the display is completely messed up. Changing X.org version but same bug. Confirmed in X.org 6.8.2 with Radeon M6 LY (radeon driver). Created attachment 3213 [details]

Created attachment 3214 [details] [review] fix X Window System Version 6.8.2 Release Date: 9 February 2005 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.8.2 Build Operating System: FreeBSD 5.4 i386 [ELF] Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 Monitor: Sony SDM-X93/B 19" TFT (Analog connection) X refuses to start or work properly with any other resolution than 1400x1050. I can switch resolutions in GNOME but the display looks all messed up. I have a Linux machine plugged into the DVI with the same Mode, HorizSync and VertSync settings and it works perfectly with both the nv and nvidia drivers. Please find attached a copy of my xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log. I should clarify. When I say "refuses to start" what I mean is that no matter what I put in my xorg.conf, X will use 1400x1050 as the default resolution. (In reply to comment #6) > Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 That should be GeForce 4 Ti 4200 Could you please repost your xorg.conf and xorg.log as the current attachments point to some other random junk. Also are you experiencing the same problem with a current version of xorg? I'm closing this bug due to the lack of activity. If the problem still persists with a current relase of xorg, please reopen. Created attachment 7168 [details]
xorg config
Since the opening, i switched to ubuntu dapper drake with Xorg 7.0.0 but still got the same problems : 1400x1050 works fine(it s the lcd panel hardware resolution), 1280x1024 works too( fonts are a bit blurry) but anything below still displays the left third of the screen on the left, the right third of the screen on the right, and in the middle part, it displays a copy of the right third, so anything in this zone is invisible. Xorg log
Sorry about the phenomenal bug spam, guys. Adding xorg-team@ to the QA contact so bugs don't get lost in future. Please reopen if you still have this issue with recent xf86-video-ati. |
