I tested with Ubuntu 7.04 that uses Mesa version 6.5.x, with Ubuntu 7.10 (Alpha 5) that uses 7.0.x and with Fedora 7 that uses 6.5.x. It's easy to reproduce: playing Torcs or in the screensaver Endgame, the system crash, I cant't use Ctrl+Alt+Bckspc. If I turn DRI off, all works, but very slow.

My system is an Intel Motherboard DG965SS, Core 2 Duo, 1 GB DDR2, using Onboard video. I tried some changes in the BIOS setup, upgrading BIOS, change the processor for a Pentium 4 (Single Core), but nothing worked.

I tried too in other PC with an Intel MB DG946GZR, but the result was the same.

Haihao, do you think this is duplicated with bug#9415?

I can reproduce this only with Endgame on upstream driver.
Torcs is fine, as there's a fix into upstream driver recently. (bug#9415)

Thanks for the good job Gordon, I can't test if with the git driver, Torcs game problem is fixed, because I don't know how to install that (I tested one time, but fail). I will wait for the Ubuntu update in Mesa Package.

Good lucky in the resolution of the Endgame screensaver problem.

When I opened this bug, the title was "Crashes in some GL applications with DRI enabled". I emphasized in errors in the Torcs game and Endgame screensaver. The Torcs game problem was fixed in Bug#9415. My last post was in 09-01, in this time I'm tested others things and I'm now, increasing the list of applications that I had errors, more two: Vegastrike 3D space combat game and Celestia (universe simulator). Probably have others.

Celestia is working fine on our side. Haven't tried others.

Are you able to try git driver?

Unfortunately, no.

I use Ubuntu, and once that I tried to compile from git I had problems with dependencies.

Well... what Linux distro do you recommend to do this?

We're working on the git tip and not care the one shipped in distro.

If you can't compile git, then updating to the latest driver in Ubuntu might be a good choice. What's the latest mesa version in Ubuntu?

I use Ubuntu 7.10 and the latest mesa version is 7.0.1-1

Hello again, guys!

I decided to test the new Ubuntu 8.04 Alpha 3, that comes with Mesa 7.0.2-3 and xorg-video-intel 2.2.0+git20080107, and aparently, all problems of my bug, except the Vega Strike game, that I didn`t tested, as I tested in the LiveCD. I suppose that will not cause problems.

The Endgame screensaver works without crash my system, Torcs game works well and Celestia works very well too.
