Description Hasso Tepper 2008-01-08 13:30:28 UTC
I experience random XVideo related crashes on Thinkpad X61s laptop with DragonFly BSD. Server is 1.4.0, Intel driver up to date 2.2 branch from git. No DRI and XAA is used because of issue #13330.

The problem might be specific to 965GM chip. I'm using same binaries/kernel on my desktop using 965Q chip and never seen these crashes (although I rarely play some videos on it).

Seems to be problem with textured video. I switched to hardware overlay yesterday with patch inspired from this thread - http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.freedesktop.xorg/26334 - and haven't seen crashes since then.

Possible to try current master with default exa to see if this's still happening?
Comment 6 Hasso Tepper 2008-03-17 05:29:28 UTC
It was never issue with EXA although I use it only for testing, because EXA without DRI is unusably slow and EXA with DRI crashes even without XVideo easily (haven't time to investigate it yet).

How about try my patch on bug #14523 for Exa + no DRI issue? And pls try current git master for recent xv fix.

Please test with master for Xv crash fix in dpms mode change.
Comment 9 Hasso Tepper 2008-03-25 06:15:23 UTC
I have xf86-video-intel 2.2.99.901 running some days now, tested extensively and haven't seen single crash, so I assume it's fixed now.
