I built the latest xorg with the gentoo ebuild, the url shows my problem... I 
hope someone knows how to fix it! :)

Please attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log of your failing server. So far there is no
information about the card and driver you're using.

I am getting a similar problem with a Powerbook G4 500 MHz with an ATI Raedon 
Mobility M3 chipset.  Bug is with Ubuntu but crossposted here in case it is 
useful.

please reopen if this is still an issue for you with 6.9 or 7.0, preferably
attaching your config file and X log.
