Created attachment 23737 [details]
24-bit PNG Wordpad screenshot showing the word "Woman" in 4 to 20pt DejaVu Sans, with ClearType on.

In DejaVu Sans and DejaVu Sans Condensed, the pair "Wo" is too close together in the 7 to 10 point range. I observe this on Windows XP only when ClearType is turned on; it doesn't seem to be noticeable when ClearType is off.

See attached screenshot for the ClearType rendering of the word "Woman" at various DejaVu Sans point sizes. This also seems to demonstrate bug 7225 ("om" too far apart at some sizes, and too close together at others). Perhaps that bug and this one should be entered as blocks/dependencies, since fixing one might affect the other(?)

I forgot to mention, this is with version 2.28's TTF files from dejavu-fonts-ttf-2.28.zip.
