For reference, this device seems to be embedded in an x86-compatible CPU/GPU combination chip: http://www.rdc.com.tw/en/product_kinds_more.php?Id=49&Type=1 Update the link to the introduction of this SOC, http://www.rdc.com.tw/tw/product/iad.htm I know the next release of Xorg is X11R7.6. Will this driver be merged into X11R7.6? Sorry that this bug fell through cracks. Please request the account per http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/AccountRequests and mention that you'll need new repository for a driver, so you'll be able to maintain it yourself. X.Org cannot accept the driver source submitted since all the source code files list the license as GPL, which is not allowed under our license policies. X.Org requires a "permissive" license of the MIT/BSD families for source contributions to our project - our preferred license is shown at http://www.x.org/releases/X11R7.5/doc/LICENSE.html or in the COPYING file in the xorg-server sources. If this was correctly licensed, to get it added under the current model of a separate xf86-video-* module per driver (though your driver seems to disagree on whether it should be xf86-video-rdc or xf86-video-aip), you'd need to have someone to serve as the maintainer, and get them a freedesktop.org account under the X.Org project by following the process shown on http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/AccountRequests However, it's been proposed that the drivers merge back into the main Xserver module for an Xorg release after Xorg 1.8 (but possibly before X11R7.6), so whether or not it will be worth adding a new module or waiting until that happens is an excellent question to ask on the xorg-devel mailing list.
