Description Robert Lowery 2009-12-03 17:14:30 UTC
At startup my CRT TV connected via component no longer picks up the margins specified in my xorg.conf file which used to work before KMS. Adding
the nomodeset kernel boot parameter to revert to UMS mode resolves the issue.

System Environment
AOpen MiniPC MP965-DR (GM965 based)
Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic)
Kernel 2.6.31
xserver 1.6.4
Intel driver 2.9.0

Note, setting the output mode using xrandr works with KMS. This bug report is asking for the xorg.conf support for setting these values to be fixed.

Keith,

Are we planning to re-enable support for configuring options like this
from with xorg.conf file with KMS?

Carl,

Just for my knowledge, is there some other supported mechanism for configurating these options at xserver start time?

I know I can use xrandr once the xserver has started, but I am looking for a way to set the defaults. I assume xorg.conf is still the mechanism to do this.

this used to work before KMS, so I wouldn't call it an enhancement.
