think there are several issues here: 
1) we should either figure out which server is sending us broken XML and tell them to fix it, or accept broken XML; 

2) every callback is getting the reason the stream disconnected as the reason it failed, which is arguably inaccurate

3) crashes at the end

    stream. In particular, this fixes an issue with illegal namespaces in some
