Description Roc Vallès Domènech 2005-05-16 14:38:25 UTC
From version 201 onwards (201 and 202 for now), xterm isn't usable anymore.
Text scrolling turned awfully slow. This is quite noticeable when trying to
display things like an ls -lR (much slower than before) or using libcaca or
aalib-enabled aplications (like, 1 fps with "cacamoir" when it used to be smooth).
I'm, btw, using Gentoo and this is an Athlon@600Mhz. If I build versions <201,
everything seems smooth and fine again.

X.Org hasn't released a copy of #201 or #202.

This was the only report with this symptom.
I am guessing that it was due to one of the Linux
kernel issues with sched_yield, which was reportedly
resolved a few years ago.

Perhaps this should be closed.

It's been ages and I can't reproduce this anymore.
