From version 201 onwards (201 and 202 for now), xterm isn't usable anymore. Text scrolling turned awfully slow. This is quite noticeable when trying to display things like an ls -lR (much slower than before) or using libcaca or aalib-enabled aplications (like, 1 fps with "cacamoir" when it used to be smooth). I'm, btw, using Gentoo and this is an Athlon@600Mhz. If I build versions <201, everything seems smooth and fine again.
X.Org hasn't released a copy of #201 or #202.
This was the only report with this symptom. I am guessing that it was due to one of the Linux kernel issues with sched_yield, which was reportedly resolved a few years ago.
Perhaps this should be closed. It's been ages and I can't reproduce this anymore.
