Output pdf file with contents scrambled

Running the command:
  pdftocairo -pdf 0607259.pdf output.pdf

Produces a new pdf file with the contents scrambled up.
The input pdf file can be found here: http://arxiv.org/pdf/astro-ph/0607259
I attach the output file I get.

I'm using:
poppler 0.20.3
cairo 1.12.2
