Restoring the volume levels should work if you assign a media role for the loopback streams. An example: pactl load-module module-loopback sink_input_properties=media.role=whatever Now if you adjust the loopback stream's volume (the playback side, that is), module-stream-restore should save the volume for the "whatever" role and restore it when a stream appears again with the same role.
