It's different because the code-generation tools don't (or at least didn't) require as modern a Python as the tests. Having said that, it seems reasonable not to support them being different (or older than 2.7, for that matter) any more. This is going to conflict with some patches for Automake 1.13 compatibility which I'd prefer to land first. Allright, thanks in advance for committing this once your automake patches have landed :-) Ping? :) Many bugs have a priority.
