Description Jan Janssens 2006-10-25 23:41:57 UTC
There is a patch available that fixes xpdf crashing on Google-PDFs.
See: http://books.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=44668&topic=9260

This should be backported into poppler as well.
I'll attach a patch in a minute.

Sorry, I was not in the root when I did the cvs diff...

Could you please attach a pdf to which this patch is necessary?
Comment 4 Brad Hards 2007-12-25 01:47:40 UTC
Is there any chance we can get a test file that demonstrates the problem this is trying to fix? You can either attach it, or provide a link (or even instructions on how to access it)

Bugzilla Upgrade Mass Bug Change

NEEDSINFO state was removed in Bugzilla 3.x, reopening any bugs previously listed as NEEDSINFO.

That has been commited since we merged xpdf 3.02
Comment 7 James Cloos 2008-04-22 16:23:42 UTC
I tested the referenced pdf in xpdf (both xpdf as released and a poppler-based version from Gentoo’s xpdf ebuild).

In both cases the scanned pages are rendered blank and xpdf writes:

Error (74600): Error in JPX stream

When I tried to view it in ghostscript 8.62 with the x11alpha DEVICE my X crashed. ;-/ But it was able to render it to file-based DEVICEs.

So there may be a bug in xpdf302’s handling of JPX which poppler may have inherited.

Or there may be a bug in the PDF which ghostscript ignores or avoids.

The JPX problem has nothing to do with this patch. It's bug 15629
