There is a patch available that fixes xpdf crashing on Google-PDFs. See: http://books.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=44668&topic=9260 This should be backported into poppler as well. I'll attach a patch in a minute.

Could you please attach a pdf to which this patch is necessary?
Is there any chance we can get a test file that demonstrates the problem this is trying to fix? You can either attach it, or provide a link (or even instructions on how to access it)
Bugzilla Upgrade Mass Bug Change NEEDSINFO state was removed in Bugzilla 3.x, reopening any bugs previously listed as NEEDSINFO. - benjsc fd.o Wrangler
That has been commited since we merged xpdf 3.02
I tested the referenced pdf in xpdf (both xpdf as released and a poppler-based version from Gentoo’s xpdf ebuild). In both cases the scanned pages are rendered blank and xpdf writes: Error (74600): Error in JPX stream When I tried to view it in ghostscript 8.62 with the x11alpha DEVICE my X crashed. ;-/ But it was able to render it to file-based DEVICEs. So there may be a bug in xpdf302’s handling of JPX which poppler may have inherited. Or there may be a bug in the PDF which ghostscript ignores or avoids.
The JPX problem has nothing to do with this patch. It's bug 15629
