Can you bisect the kernel? I'm assuming "bisect" means find a kernel somewhere in between the two I have tested with. Well if I can find such a kernel and figure out how to install it I will do so. Use git bisect to find the exact commit that caused the regression. Google for "git bisect howto". Thanks, but I suspect that is well above my level of expertise to carry out. I will try to find a Fedora 22 kernel in between the previous good one and the current one and see if that does or does not show the problem. Would sending in Xorg.0.log be helpful? Xorg.0.log from system that is failing
I can't even figure out how to make Fedora install an older kernel to see
if that has the problem - but attached is an X log from the defective system
in hopes that will show something useful. Again, with the defective system
the touchpad mouse seems to work normally, but pushing the buttons seems to
do nothing. And when I'm first logged in there is this window about selecting
which desktop, or adding more desktops; I don't get that on a system that works.
I was able to install a 4.1.2 kernel, and the problem is there with that kernel. Fedora didn't seem to release any kernels between 4.0.8 and 4.1.2. Created attachment 117698 [details]
Xorg.0.log from system running kernel 4.1.4
it isn't any better with kernel 4.1.4
However I note that a USB mouse plugged in seems to work OK, so it is just
the buttons associated with the touch pad that don't work
I'm about to add a dmesg from the bootup also.
