*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 97546 *** Please try 2.7.11_rc1 when it is available later today as it will have the patch from fontconfig. Bug is still present in XQuartz-2.7.11 (released 2016-10-29), so I'm not convinced this is really a duplicate of #97546 (unless that one wasn't really fixed in 2.7.11) The caching issue is bug #97546. freetype 2.7 changed their hinting. See their release notes. File hinting bugs with https://www.freetype.org *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 97546 *** I should have stated more clearly: I meant BOTH issues (slow startup and font hinting) are still present in 2.7.11 on Mac OS 10.7. If we are not discussing the font hinting issue here, then this bug is only about slow startup in 2.7.11 and should probably be retitled.
