Description Martin Peres 2017-04-21 10:02:13 UTC
The host fi-bdw-5557u hard hanged when running igt@drv_module_reload@basic-reload-inject.

No useful logs got collected, with maybe the exception of:

[ 500.358920] [IGT] drv_module_reload: exiting, ret=0
[ 500.359024] snd_hda_intel 0000:00:03.0: failed to add i915 component master (-19)
[ 500.359034] snd_hda_intel 0000:00:03.0: HSW/BDW HD-audio HDMI/DP requires binding with gfx driver
[ 500.367406] snd_hda_codec_realtek hdaudioC1D0: autoconfig for ALC283: line_outs=1 (0x21/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) type:hp

Could you please help show us your config file and reproduce steps?

It seems that audio driver failed to find the audio component provided by gfx driver.

Hi Libin,

I've been trying to reproduce this without success too. I'm running the mentioned igt test but it always succeeds in my system (G3900).

I suppose this is the config file: https://intel-gfx-ci.01.org/CI/CI_DRM_2548/kernel.config.bz2

I am able to consistently hit the snd_hda_intel bind failure below:

[ 500.359024] snd_hda_intel 0000:00:03.0: failed to add i915 component master (-19)

Without hitting the actual hang. In such cases, the test still succeeds. So, if this message is related at all, at least in some cases the error is not fatal.

Adding tag into "Whiteboard" field - ReadyForDev
The bug still active
*Status is correct
*Platform is included
*Feature is included
*Priority and Severity correctly set

Should we resolve now?

Hi Jani,

We don't have enough information to move forward with this. The bind failure log does not seem related and we haven't seen it happen again in the CI with more meaningful logs.

Since this didn't trigger anymore and I can't make it happen in my HW, I am not sure how to follow on with it.
Comment 9 Jani Saarinen 2017-06-05 06:06:40 UTC
Lets treat this as not reproducible. Resolved.
Comment 10 Jani Saarinen 2017-06-05 06:07:26 UTC
Whitelisted again on CI
