Since dd19674bacba227ae5d3ce680cbc5668198894dc is for 4.12-rc, I have back-ported the fix to version 4.11 of the kernel.

https://github.com/kernelim/linux/commit/b9b790ab92830f131559231d9c216040aa198ca1

Built Fedora RPMs for it: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/alonid/kernel-4.11-drmfix/, and currently running it on my laptop.

Can we review and get this into 'drm-intel-fixes'?

Hi,

Thanks a lot ! I'm testing your custom kernel with drm fix right now, I'll report how it goes.

Seems to run fine until now, will test for a few more days to be sure.

I got an i915 related error though in the logs:

[drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun

Not sure if due to this patch or not.

One full day without any freeze, haven't happen in a long time, really happy with the fix so far ! Thanks a lot !

Good to hear!

For me the problem is less frequent, so I was not sure yet if it is effective. I have some issues resuming from suspend but I am not sure they are related.

New stack trace after fix

Worked well for a few days, but I had a new freeze this morning.

So I agree with you, the fix only seems to make it much less frequent.

See attached stacktrace.
