I am runnning X11R7.2 on my amd 64 gentoo laptop. 
It has this video card:
# lspci

If I have turned on DRI the system freezes randomly. If I use glxgears it happens quite often. Then the systems freezes totally - even caps lock and num lock do not work. I have to push the power button to shutdown the very hard way.

Even using the Legacy3D option does not help. 

I noticed that there are some bug reports but mostly with other hardware. So I opened this bug - just in case it is not known.
