First of all. Sorry about spam. This is mass update for our bugs. Sorry if you feel this annoying but with this trying to understand if bug still valid or not. If bug investigation still in progress, please ignore this and I apologize! If you think this is not anymore valid, please comment to the bug that can be closed. If you haven't tested with our latest pre-upstream tree(drm-tip), can you do that also to see if issue is valid there still and if you cannot see issue there, please comment to the bug.
Created attachment 138598 [details] kern log mini-dp dongle to DVI Hello, I tried to reproduce the issue by connecting a mini-DP to DVI dongle in the mini-DP output on a KBL nuc and a HDMI to HDMI cable in the nuc's HDMI output. The first time I tried, I got video signal in both displays, the DVI one and the HMDI one. But when I tried to drag a mozilla tab to the one with DVI, there was a lot of corruption on it, unfortunately I couldn't take a photo of it. I restarted the machine with both displays connected and I didn't manage to get video on both, only the HDMI one got video output. I disconnected the HDMI and I got image on the DVI one, then I reconnected and lost image in both, I did disconnecting and connecting various time, until I ended with DVI only connected and no image, even though in dmesg if I moved the mouse, the log would show the position on the mouse. ====================================== Software ====================================== kernel version : 4.16.0 hostname : gfx-desktop architecture : x86_64 os version : Ubuntu 17.10 os codename : artful kernel driver : i915 bios revision : 5.12 bios release date : 09/12/2016 hardware acceleration : disabled swap partition : enabled on (/dev/sda2) ====================================== Hardware ====================================== platform : Kabylake-Nuc motherboard model : MS-B142 motherboard id : MS-B1421 form factor : Desktop manufacturer : Micro-StarInternationalCo.,Ltd. cpu family : Core i7 cpu family id : 6 cpu information : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz gpu card : Intel Corporation HD Graphics 620 (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) memory ram : 7.67 GB max memory ram : 64 GB display resolution : 5440x1080 cpu thread : 4 cpu core : 2 cpu model : 142 cpu stepping : 9 socket : Other signature : Type 0, Family 6, Model 142, Stepping 9 hard drive : 111GiB (120GB) current cd clock frequency : 337500 kHz maximum cd clock frequency : 675000 kHz displays connected : DP-1 HDMI-A-2 ====================================== Firmware ====================================== dmc fw loaded : yes dmc version : 1.4 guc fw loaded : fetch NONE, load NONE guc version wanted : wanted 9.39, found 0.0 guc version found : wanted 9.39, found 0.0 ====================================== kernel parameters ====================================== quiet splash drm.debug=0x1e
By the way, I'm using last stable from kernel.org
Ville, any advice here?
Jani, how you see this validity, any help here?
Elisabeth, is this still valid on latest drm-tip?
Maria, do you still have the issue?
Need latest logs from drm-tip to investigate the issue if still exists. Reporter can not reproduce this issue. Closing as resolved works for me. Please re-open if issue persists with latest drm-tip https://cgit.freedesktop.org/drm-tip and send dmesg from boot with kernel parameters drm.debug=0x1e log_buf_len=4M.
